What Exactly Is the PEZ Visitor Center?
The PEZ Visitor Center is a 4000-square-foot museum dedicated to all things PEZ! The museum is home to the world’s largest collection of PEZ memorabilia on public display.
Some of the fun things you’ll get to see are the PEZ motorcycle built by Orange County Choppers and the world’s largest PEZ dispenser, as well as hundreds of PEZ dispensers from the past 50+ years.
What to Know Before You Visit the PEZ Museum
Location
The PEZ Visitor Center is located a few minutes from I-95, making it the perfect roadside stop (or even a fun activity if you live nearby). The few times we visited, we used it as a rest stop on our drive to Martha’s Vineyard.
Its address is 35 Prindle Hill Rd, Orange, CT 06477, about halfway between Milford and New Haven in Connecticut.
Hours
The PEZ Visitor Center is open 10 am – 5 pm, daily. You can see the factory workers during your visit if you come during the week on a non-holiday.
Admission
Admission to the museum is $5 for adults and $4 for kids ages 3-12. You receive a $2 credit per ticket to spend at the store (which is nice because you know the kids will want to get something!).
What to See and Do at the PEZ Museum
PEZ Memorabilia
As mentioned above, the museum is home to the most extensive collection of PEZ memorabilia on public display in the world! That’s a lot of PEZ dispensers!
They are organized by theme, so it’s fun to see all of the Mickey Mouse dispensers together, noting how they’ve changed over the years.
In addition to the dispensers, there are other fun items, such as PEZ high heels and PEZ lunchboxes. Take your time to look at everything – although it is a small space, there is a lot to see.
Scavenger Hunt
We love the PEZ scavenger hunt! It’s a fun way to make sure you see everything. And then at the end, you can spin the wheel at the checkout counter to win a prize.
Both times we visited, the prize was a random PEZ dispenser and candy. The scavenger hunt is included with admission, so it’s worth it to get a little more PEZ in your life.
PEZ Video Games
A few areas around the store feature interactive screen games that you can play. Some of the games include PEZ trivia or matching.
PEZ Store
There is a small section with PEZ merchandise you can purchase (and use your $2 per ticket credit). Both visits, we ended up buying a bucket of PEZ (you can mix the flavors). But they also sell dispensers, t-shirts, and other fun stuff.
PEZ Factory Viewing Window
If you visit the PEZ Museum on a weekday, you’ll get a glimpse of the factory workers packing boxes. We watched some packaged dispensers roll off the conveyor belt before being placed in a larger box.
Amenities Available at the PEZ Visitor Center
Picnic Tables
There are some picnic tables set up outside the entrance of the PEZ Visitor Center. No food or drinks are allowed inside.
Restrooms
There are restrooms located just inside the entrance to the PEZ Visitor Center, before you enter the museum.
How Long Will It Take?
Since it is a smaller museum, you can enjoy everything at the PEZ Visitor Center in a relatively short amount of time. We chose to participate in the scavenger hunt, which took some time and ended up lasting around 45 minutes. However, you can easily see everything in less time if you need to get in and out and back on the road.
I would plan on spending about 30-45 minutes to enjoy the museum and purchase some merchandise or candy before you leave.
