Getting to the Poconos
If You Live Nearby
The Poconos Mountains and surrounding areas are within 1-2 hours of major cities like New York and Philadelphia.
The Poconos is easily accessible by car thanks to the major highways, like I-80 and I-84, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike’s northeast extension, I-476.
By Airplane
If you are visiting from out of state, flying into Lehigh Valley National Airport would be your best option. It’s about an hour or less away from these resorts.
Another option is flying into Newark, which is about 1.5 hours away.
Either way, you’ll have to rent a car to complete the journey. Don’t forget to request an all-wheel drive during the winter months!

Camelback Resort is more than a hotel with an indoor water park. The entire Camelback property contains the hotel with Aquatopia Waterpark, an outdoor waterpark, ski slopes, snow tubing, ziplines, a mountain coaster, and so much more!
No matter what season you visit, you’ll find there is plenty to do at Camelback Resort. After all of that activity, adults and kids can wind down at the spa on site.
Camelback Lodge offers accommodations that suit any family size.

You won’t go hungry at Camelback. With multiple places to eat inside the lodge itself, including a swanky cocktail bar that overlooks the waterpark, you’ll never have to leave the resort to eat.
However, if you’re looking for a “fancy” night out, Berrelli’s is a short walk or shuttle ride away from the lodge.
2. Great Wolf Lodge
Location: 1 Great Wolf Drive, Scotrun, PA 18355
Great Wolf Lodge is a well-known and popular destination for families looking for an indoor water park at the hotel.
With various-sized rooms accommodating up to eight family members in one suite, you have plenty of sleeping options. Some of the suites are themed as though the kids are sleeping in a log cabin or tent.
Several restaurants are onsite, including a table service restaurant and some quick service options closer to the water park. There is even a cocktail bar in the waterpark area for the adults who want to indulge. Don’t forget to stop by their ice cream shop!
In addition to the large indoor water park, Great Wolf Lodge has tons of paid activities like bowling, a ropes course, and their interactive game, MagiQuest.

3. Kalahari Resort
Location: 250 Kalahari Boulevard, Pocono Manor, PA18349
What sets Kalahari apart from the other resorts on this list is their accommodations. They offer everything from standard hotel rooms to fabulous five-bedroom suites. The five-bedroom suite includes a full kitchen, a private balcony, and a pool table.
In addition to its beautiful accommodations, Kalahari has everything you want in a family-friendly Poconos resort. Their indoor waterpark is over 22,000 square feet and is the largest in the area.
There is also an outdoor waterpark and ropes course. Inside, Kalahari offers fun activities like an escape room, mini bowling, and mini-golf.
Like its closest competitors, Kalahari has tons of food options for every family. From table service to quick service, they have your needs covered. There is even a coffee bar selling Starbucks coffee, along with delicious pastries and desserts.
4. Split Rock Resort
Location: 428 Moseywood Road, Lake Harmony, PA 18624
Split Rock Resort is a massive property located right on Lake Harmony. The resort offers different types of accommodations scattered over several buildings.
If your family plans on using the indoor waterpark a lot, then the one-bedroom Galleria suites will suit you best. But if you’re looking for a view of Lake Harmony, you’ll want a room in the Lodge.
If you’re looking for more to do than play at the water park, Split Rock has you covered. More than four dozen different activities are offered at the resort, from mini-golf and shuffleboard to canoeing and archery, and more are coming soon.
From grab-and-go pizza at the Town Center Food Court to a family-friendly sit-down meal overlooking the lake, Split Rock Resort has several dining options. After all of the fun and activity during your stay, you can wind down at the onsite spa and salon.
Split Rock isn’t too far from some of our favorite hiking spots. We love the Shades of Death Trail and Hawk Falls Trail at Hickory Run State Park.

6. Sky Top Lodge

Step back in time as you enter Sky Top Lodge. At almost 100 years old, Sky Top Lodge’s original building exudes class and charm not typical of a family-friendly resort in the Poconos.
You can stay in one of the Lodge’s classic rooms, or you can stay at the modern Inn along Sky Top Lake. Sky Top also offers quiet cottages away from the hubbub of the Lodge and Inn.
Sky Top Lodge sits on 5,500 acres and offers many different activities and attractions that anyone in the family can enjoy. Activities like crafts and trivia are provided daily.
Outside, guests can explore the various hiking and walking trails or get adventurous with rock climbing and ziplining. You can even try your hand at ice fishing!
Ready to eat? Sky Top Lodge has several dining options for you and the family. Grab something to go at The Market, sit down for a casual meal at The Taproom, or indulge in an elegant table service meal at Windsor.
7. Woodloch Resort

Woodloch Resort is the only resort on this list that offers a proper all-inclusive option for your family vacation to the Poconos. They have several packages, and some include 2-3 meals daily during your stay.
As far as accommodations, they have whatever your family needs. You can either stay in the hotel in one of their beautiful suites or rent a full-sized vacation home on the property. Woodloch has it all!
Your kids won’t have an opportunity to be bored at Woodloch. Over two dozen activities are scheduled daily on top of their already extensive list of attractions.
Rock climbing, go-carts, kayaking, and snow tubing are just a few of the activities included in your stay. At the end of the day, you catch one of Woodloch’s nightly entertainment options, like Broadway-style shows.
As mentioned above, Woodloch offers an all-inclusive dining option for your stay. But you can eat a la carte as well at any of the seven dining options. From quick bites to a full-service sit-down meal, you have plenty of options to keep the whole family happy.
8. Mountaintop Lodge

Mountaintop Lodge is on Lake Naomi and is a fun and casual resort in the Pocono Mountains.
Mountaintop Lodge is a traditional bed & breakfast with 10 suites accommodating two to four guests. They also have cabin suites, but those are only made for two people.
However, you’ll want to stay in the lodge to be close to all of the family-friendly amenities at Mountaintop Lodge. Guests who stay at Mountaintop have access to Lake Naomi Club and all of the amenities and activities available there. Lake Naomi Club has fun things to do, like the pool, volleyball, boating and fishing, and a rock wall!
Mountaintop Lodge is the perfect location for a low-key family getaway. Its size can offer a relaxed and quiet escape.
9. Mountain Springs Lake Resort

For a quiet getaway to the Poconos with the family, consider staying at Mountain Springs Lake Resort. They offer beautiful 2 and 3-bedroom cabins around their gorgeous lake that have full kitchens and large living spaces. Each cabin also comes with a rowboat you can take out onto the lake.
The property boasts two sandy beaches, playgrounds, badminton, tetherball, and horseshoes, as well as fishing and a two-mile nature walk around the lake.
The resort is not too far from Camelback’s Aquatopia, so you can visit the waterpark for a day and then return to the quiet of the resort.
